Introduction

Zhengding Lu is the Dean and Professor in College of Computer Science and Technology at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, P R China.  He received a Bachelor degree in mathematics from Wuhan University, China, in 1967.  He graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology as a master, majoring in computer software, and received a Master degree of Engineering from Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1982.  Professor Zhengding Lu is the Director of China Computer Federation (CCF); is the Vice-Director of Professional Committee of E-Governance and Office Automation of CCF; is the Vice-Director of Professional Committee of Open System of CCF; is the Director General of Computer Federation of Hubei Province; is the Head of Board of Experts in National Information Security Production Industrialization Base (Hubei); is a member of National Higher Education Teaching Board of Computer Specialty; and is the Vice-Director of CIMS Research Center in HUST.

Professor Zhengding Lu's research interests include distributed computing, database systems, information security, graphics and image processing.  He managed over thirty research projects in the past twenty years, which were supported by Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), National Key Tech R&D Program, National Hi-Tech R&D Program (863), Key Tech R&D Program of Hubei Province, CIMS Demonstration Project of Hubei Province and other large corporations.  He received the CASA/SME University LEAD Award of USA in 1999 and other 6 related awards of science and technology advancement.  He edited 9 books and published over 160 papers in international and national journals and conferences.  He also served as the program committee member of GCC 2004 International Conference, conference chair of WISA 2004, program committee chair of DPCS 2002 and many other professional positions.
