讲座题目:IP Protection in Global Design and Supply Chain Management

讲座摘要:
Increasing global competition has led to massive outsourcing of manufacturing businesses. Such outsourcing practices require effective collaborations between the manufacturing companies and their partners by sharing a large amount of information. In the meantime, since some of the partners are also potential competitors, protection of confidential information, particularly intellectual property, during the collaboration is becoming an increasingly serious problem. Therefore, secure collaboration is of critical significance in the global design and supply chain management. Leakage of confidential information in the design and supply chain management may happen in many different ways. In addition to the risks arisen from security problems in the infrastructure underlying the collaboration, reverse engineering is another significant threat to design and supply chain management. Information security in general and IP protection in particular in the global design and supply chain management involve multiple domains including design chain management, supply chain
management, reverse engineering, computer aided design, information security, and engineering optimization. This talk will introduce a formal model of global design chain management, from which an IP leakage scenario based on reverse design will be derived.Mechanisms and algorithms are then explained for mitigating the IP leakage risks due to the reverse design. A case study is given to illustrate the developed theory and algorithms.
曾勇教授简介:
Dr. Yong Zeng is Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in design science(2004-2014) and a professor in the Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Prior to joining in Concordia in August 2003, he was a research associate in the Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Institute at the National Research Council of Canada for two years after he received his Ph.D. from Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary in 2001. He got his first PhD degree and Master’s degree from Research Institute of Engineering Mechanics at Dalian University of Technology in 1989 and 1992, respectively. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Structural
Engineering from PLA Institute of Logistics Engineering, Chongqing. He was a lecturer and Associate Professor at PLA Institute of Logistics Engineering
between 1992 and 1996. Zeng’s research interest is in understanding and improving product design activities, especially creative design activities.
Specific topics of his research include the science of design, methodology for innovative and creative design, computer-aided product conceptual
design, design cognition and semantics, as well as geometric modeling for product development. He has been developing formal and experimental
approaches to design research. He collaborates with aerospace companies, pharmaceutical companies, software development companies and municipality
for the applications of his research results.
